Religion is the organized practice of magic. Religion often involves standardized rituals, rites, beliefs, and myths. Religions spread throughout human populations by either written text or word of mouth. Most religions can be categorized as pantheistic, polytheistic, monotheistic, atheistic, or animistic, depending on the relationship between the observers and existing gods. See List of Religions.
Types of Religion
Pantheism
Pantheism recognizes and worships gods within its religion as well as the gods of other religions. Some pantheistic religions have preferred gods, but will still venerate gods from all other religions.
Polytheism
Polytheism recognizes multiple gods within a pantheon, but does not venerate gods outside of the pantheon.
Monotheism
Monotheism recognizes only one god.
Atheism
Atheism recognizes no gods. However, Atheistic religions may still observe rituals and philosophies consistent with their beliefs and myths.
Animism
Animism recognizes godhood as a universal principle. Many animistic religions recognize an infinite number of gods present in all living and non-living material.
